A few taller customers have reported fit issues with Freestanding Mod when used with larger, wider hammocks, particularly those with structural ridgelines that are shorter than the typical 83% length of the hammock body, that result in deeper than normal sag (e.g., Dream Hammock Sparrow). The issue is inadequate height, without making the base so narrow that poles touch head or feet, or hover over them.
The purple hammock shown in the setup video and instructions is a measured 12′, but without a ridgeline to be able to make full use of the 124″ ridgepole. This fits a 5’10” person, but a 6’4″ person might have clearance issues with the poles in the same hammock. These fit issues do not affect most persons or 11′ hammocks, but if you’re over 6′ with an especially wide hammock (>64″), they might.
A limited (low) sit height is a design choice we embraced for Freestanding Mod because it is safer over hard surfaces, such as indoors where Freestanding Mod is best suited. For widest compatibility and range of adjustment with diverse hammock types and lengths, and larger tarps, Tensa4 in standard guyed mode remains the best choice, simpler to set up, and can be used indoors or out wherever the foot end can be secured to an immovable object or ground anchor.
Freestanding Mod works only with gathered-end hammocks, not bridge or transverse hammocks. Tensa4 standard works with all three of these types, as well as the Haven Tent.

I use this configuration of the Tensa 04 almost daily with my Warbonnet Blackbird XLC. I hang my hammock off of the toggle loops and get a very nice hang that way.
In terms of ease of setup and convenience, this is the best configuration for the Tensa 4. All this mod does is add a new telescoping pole that runs from the head end to the foot end of the hammock, as well as another pole that supports your weight on the head end. There’s no guesswork in involved with how you need to angle the head and foot ends of the stand, and the structure is very stable once you get the head support pole set up.
Setting this up and taking this down takes me literally 1 minute to do. I just disconnect the ridgeline pole in the middle and bring all poles together in a bundle that I can lean against a wall in my closet. Setting the stand up is extremely easy, just connect the ridgeline pole and make sure the head support pole is straight and can bear weight. Very easy and quick to use once you figure out how to construct the stand.
But yes, would highly recommend. I’ve used this stand on my wooden deck, on carpet, and on linoleum floors. I have had success hanging for a long time on all those flooring surfaces. The head support pole can also be braced slightly at the base if you desire. This is my favorite way to use this stand, and it makes indoor setup and deck setup both possible and very convenient. My deck is 9 feet X 8 feet, and I have more than enough room for this stand
